Grand Rapids Traffic Ticket Defense

A traffic ticket under the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code can carry significant financial ramifications, impact your driving record — and could even result in a suspension or revocation of your driving privileges.

Depending on the ticket, a violation of the Motor Vehicle Code can result in a civil infraction or, if more serious, a misdemeanor. Some of these misdemeanors include: reckless driving, moving violation causing serious impairment of a bodily function, moving violation causing death, and driving while license suspended, revoked, or denied (DWLS). Diversion is not available for a criminal violation of the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code and such a charge cannot be expunged from your permanent record.

If you are a commercial driver with a CDL, the effects of a traffic ticket are even more severe and could result in job loss or suspension or revocation of your driving privileges. It is critical for commercial drivers to consult an attorney immediately, as you have only 10 days to respond to a ticket.
